Professor McCloud, leading scientist among the Cloud People inhabiting the vast ammonia clouds on gaseous planet Jupiter, has developed a Jovian telescope, and is discovering things that completely go against some long-held beliefs of the Jovians. Will he be forced to recant his findings or continue his research behind a cloud of secrecy?
